In the UK there are three types of barn conversion: Cruck Framed Barnes –These barn conversions rely on internal timber A-frames to support the roof. Box Construction Barns – In these barns the four walls hold up the roof structure. Post and Truss Barns – In this property conversion, vertically placed timber frames support the roof structure.
Some Insurance companies will not offer cover for converted barns as they are considered an increased risk because barn conversions are often non-standard construction.
